Award-winning composer and sound engineer Justin Rosin has written concert pieces and scored independent films, shorts and commercials. His passion is to collaborate using instruments and technology to create inspiring and evocative music. Mr. Rosin thoroughly believes that music is a universal language that can effectively communicate any human emotion through any artistic medium. Mr. Rosin started his Master’s of Music Composition Program in Fall 2016 at one of NYC’s top music conservatories, Mannes School of Music, where he studied with renowned composer Dr. Lowell Liebermann. Mr. Rosin was chosen as the primary film composer for the student thesis films and graduated in May of 2018.

Mr. Rosin was selected to compose a piece for the 7:1 dance collaboration project run by the Rovaco Dance Company. Upon reviewing the May 2017 premiere of Mr. Rosin’s piece, Courtney Escoyne wrote in The Stewardship Report that the work was “most affecting” and “at its most cohesive.”  He has studied under several industry professionals including John Kaefer (Quantum Break, Sequestered, Shark Tank), Michael Bacon (The Jewish Americans, Boy Interrupted, The Bacon Brothers) and Sam Estes (Music Editor on Inception, The Dark Knight Rises and Co-Founder of Sonicsmiths/Amper Music).  

Mr. Rosin won the orchestral composition award for Rutgers Annual Orchestra Day in June of 2016 and was ranked in the top percentile of the Marvin Hamlisch film scoring competition on a global level, which was judged by Oscar-winning composer Mychael Danna. He has interned at Sandblast Productions, Creative Group and The National Chorale where he did several things ranging from scoring commercials to assisting with live camera concert directors and stagehand sound design. He was also recently commissioned to compose a choral and orchestral work for a concert honoring a time-honored music professor at his alma mater, WHS.

Mr. Rosin has also excelled as both a teacher and a tutor. In 2011, he began his own business teaching piano, strings, string-instrument repair, composition/music theory and electronic music production. Additionally, he has set up sound and instrumentation for orchestras and bands including Trey Anastasio of Phish and The National Chorale at Lincoln Center and has performed at Carnegie Hall.

 

He released a solo acoustic guitar album in September 2015 titled, Impassioned and also does string-instrument repair and maintenance. While working as an administrator at the NJ Workshop for the Arts, Mr. Rosin was given many opportunities to step into leadership roles, both as administrator and educator. He has instructed and performed music for Nursing Homes and has coordinated/taught for Music Counts which provides music lessons to under-privileged youth. He has also developed leadership roles in his studies at Mannes in both composition courses and Michael Bacon’s Film Scoring and Music Technology course.

Mr. Rosin was accepted into the highly competitive SCL NY Film Scoring mentorship for the Fall 2018 where he studied with industry professionals like Tom Salta, Chris Hajian and Philip Rothamn. He has worked for NYC studios, YouTooCanWoo and Q Department. He is also a composer/producer for 4 Elements Music Library and has had his music featured on ABC’s 20/20 and several commercials. Working as a Composer’s Assistant to Brooklyn-based composer Todd Griffin was his last gig in NYC before moving to Los Angeles in the summer of 2019 to continue his pursuits in concert music and film scoring. Shortly after he moved he landed an internship with Oscar- nominated composer Dustin O’Halloran which gave him the opportunity to assist Mr. O’Halloran in music preparation and production. 

Mr. Rosin completed the Los Angeles Film Conducting Intensive which ran the middle week of January 2020. This rigorous week consisted of lectures, lessons and masterclasses from industry professionals such as Conrad Pope, Angel Velez, Emilie Bernstein, Jorge Mester and William Ross. He has assisted distinguished composers Christopher Tin and Peter Golub in composition, orchestration and recording at their studios in Los Angeles. In March 2020 he was hired as the Office Assistant to forensic musicologist, Judith Finell. Lastly, Mr. Rosin was hired as the Music Production Coordinator for Formosa Group in January 2022. There he assists composers and music producers in creating music for video games, film and the concert stage. In March 2020 he was hired as the Office Assistant to forensic musicologist, Judith Finell. He received a Best Original Score nomination for the film, Edge (dir. Nischay Madhavan) from the Swindon Independent International Film Festival, in the UK in July 2020 and was placed in the Top 20 finalists for the international Lei Cine Film Scoring Competition in 2021. Lastly, he was hired as the Music Production Coordinator for Formosa Group in December 2021 and has since been promoted to Senior Music Producer. There he assists composers and music producers in creating music for video games and other media.
